What do the EPA fuel economy numbers mean?

The Environmental Protection Agency tests all vehicles under controlled lab conditions so consumers can compare the fuel economy between different models. These conditions are designed to account for real-world driving conditions such as faster driving speeds and acceleration, as well as air conditioner use and colder outside temperatures. However, on the road, your vehicle's mileage will vary due to factors such as individual driving habits, cargo and maintenance.

How do I reset the "Maint Reqd" light located on the instrument panel?

This procedure should be used to reset the light when maintenance has been performed:

2) Set the Odometer/Trip Display to the ODO mode
3) Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
4) Depress and HOLD the Trip Meter RESET button while turning the ignition switch to the ON position.
5) The Service Maintenance Reminder Light will: a. Illuminate solidly for 3 seconds. b. Blink for 2 seconds. c. Illuminate solidly for 1 second. d. Turn off.
6) Release the Trip Meter RESET button.
7) Turn the ignition to the OFF position.
8) Turn the ignition to the ON position, and confirm that the Service Maintenance Reminder Light goes out.

Who tests Lexus vehicles for fuel economy and what factors affect fuel economy?

Refer to http://www.fueleconomy.gov for details on testing parameters. Each new vehicle sold in the U.S. has EPA fuel mileage estimates printed on the Monroney label which is for comparison only. This means that all the cars go through exactly the same tests so their fuel efficiency can be compared in a fair manner. As indicated on the Monroney label, actual mileage will vary with options, driving conditions, driving habits and the vehicle's condition.

Can I make modifications or add non-Lexus accessories to my Lexus vehicle?

Lexus, as the manufacturer, does not recommend the use of most aftermarket parts/accessories in or on our vehicles. We have not tested aftermarket parts/accessories, therefore we do not have comprehensive information on how they may affect the operation of your vehicle. Please refer to your Warranty and Services Guide for more detailed warranty information. Modifications which cause your car to deviate from the manufacturer's original specifications will void the Lexus warranty. Any repairs and/or adjustments required as a result of misuse (for example, racing, overloading), negligence, modification, alteration, tampering, disconnection, improper adjustments or repairs, accidents and use of add-on parts/materials would not be covered by your New Vehicle Limited Warranty.

Can you please supply me with Lexus vehicle body crash-test information?

Lexus performs extensive crash testing in order to engineer and build safety into our vehicles. Although specific results of our testing are proprietary, you may contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) for information on crash tests that it has performed. Crash tests may also be performed by the Insurance Institute, as reported on television or Internet news programming.

If I take my Lexus outside of the U.S.A., will I still have warranty coverage?

As noted in the Lexus Warranty and Services Guide, warranty coverage is only applicable to any vehicle registered and normally operated within the United States mainland, Alaska and Canada. If you are touring or relocating outside of the U.S. mainland, Canada or Mexico warranty service is not provided by the local dealer because the local Lexus distributor may have no obligation to provide warranty service to your vehicle and/or your Lexus may not comply with the regulatory and/or environmental requirements of certain countries. In addition, depending on the model, it may be difficult to obtain appropriate Lexus Genuine parts for service and repairs. Please contact the local Lexus distributor applicable to the area for more information.
